Normally, she’d be grumbling over how quickly
another month kicks in. But for the very first time, this month felt exactly
like 30 days to her. It didn’t go too fast or too slow.
As she was writing this post, she
recalled those moments when she was little. Born and grew up in Indonesia, a tropical
country who has only two seasons, September had always been her favorite as it
would be raining every day for the rest of those other ‘-ber’ months that sometimes
last until January, or even March.
There’s a term used to describe the
transition period between the dry and wet season called “pancaroba.” And
because many young people often get sick during September due to significant changes
in weather, a lot of Indonesian moms would prepare for the change in weather by
taking extra precautions to keep their families healthy, such as ensuring they
eat nutritious meals, staying warms, and keep the kids inside for as long as
they need to.
There was always the time where her
mom would let her and her siblings out only when it was school time. Her mom
then would wait for them at the door with a giant glass of orange looking drink
that looked noting but potion a witch would made in Scooby-Doo mixed with “immune
booster” mantra.
The drink is called Jamu, and she wasn’t
a big fan of it when she was a kid. But as she grew older, she’s starting to like
it, and now misses it because her mom hasn’t been making it for a while.
Speaking of Jamu, IShowSpeed have tried it
recently when he was doing the in-real-life stream in Yogyakarta.
September used to be a gloomy month both for her and the sky, but now it’s so bright and warm after she learned that her most favorite person was born this month.
