When
I was younger, I wished I was one of those kids at school who always eats lunch
alone during the break. It seemed so peaceful to have zero friends. Imagine reading
books in the corner of the room and no one dare to interrupt, or going straight
home after school, less coffee shop hangout, less party, less drama, and won’t have
to worry about having the same crush (some friendships end because you like
the same guy).
Fortunately, my personality wasn’t qualified enough to be
the invisible one at class. It’s a blessing to have friends and experienced lots
of colorful school moments together, even if I knew one of them was secretly into
the person I was with; that’s totally understandable.
Now that I’m older and my world is getting smaller, I wish I
could keep as many friends as possible, or make a new one. That should be
enough for me to face the world without loneliness.
These
exes and a husband in an open marriage might have plenty of time available to
spend with me and all ears to listen to my story. But he said they must have something
up on their head, I can’t be friends with them. And on top of that, a
girlfriend is what I really need.
The
only friend I own right now is my man. Of course, I’m so grateful for that, but
he was born with a built-in problem solver program on his brain. He could never
really sit there and just listen to my complaint without discussing a sentence with
his prefrontal cortex and come up with a logical way out.
I’ve
been rewatching some K-Drama I used to watch with my old friends lately since I
miss them. And I didn’t notice this back then, but now it is so stand out. It
now makes sense why all these main characters are so strong despite the fact
that their life is extremely hard; It's because they have a bestie.
